Yo, Pete? Put up or shut up, buddy...

So the GOP has filibustered the Iraq troop withdrawal vote.

And, as expected the GOP senators who have grabbed headlines by making nice with popular opinion (They can "no longer support" the president's Iraq policy of staying there), have shown their stripes when they were asked to do more than pose for the cameras.

52 Senators voted to give troop withdrawal an up or down vote (where it would likely pass, though not by a veto-proof margin)

Among the 47 Senators who thought we shouldn't bother voting on this issue were
  • Pete Domenici of New Mexico
  • Norm Coleman of Minnesota
  • Elizabeth Dole of North Carolina
  • Lindsey Graham of South Carolina
  • Dick Luger of Indiana
  • John Sununu of New Hampshire
  • John Warner of Virginia
Thank you senators, for being all we expect of the modern GOP Senator.

Hats off to Sen. Susan Collins for being the only new GOP critic of current Iraq policy to back up her words with action.

Next time Pete (or any of these other turkeys) tries to grab some air time by bashing Iraq policy, I hope someone in the crowd has the stones to bring up this vote.

Late Edit:
I'm just a pretender, but Digby does this topic for real:
The ongoing adventures of the Eunuch Caucus

What she said.
