Unbe-effing-lievable

TPM found a sure recipe for stunned silence:
As you know, soldiers often get bonuses for signing up for new hitches in the service. But some of them now aren't able to complete the period of enlistment because some have had limbs blown off and sustained other injuries. So the Pentagon's asking them to cough up those bonuses for not fulfilling their commitments.
Yeah.

The same military that couldn't account for 2.3 trillion dollars, is cutting costs on signing bonuses for injured soldiers.

Against all odds, I think we've finally found Americans who do, in fact - hate the troops.

They work in the Pentagon's payroll office.

Late edit:

I thought dm's comment on TPM was particularly apt:
Dear Disabled Veteran,

Unfortunately, due to the fact that you obeyed orders from the U.S. Government to go to the foreign war zone in which you were severely wounded, you are in material breach of your contract to obey the U.S. Government. We, the U.S. Government, therefore demand restitution on behalf of the hard-working taxpayers whom you have so heartlessly defrauded.

Sincerely,
The US Army
