Starbucks

I'm meeting Jen and her husband outside of town. We'll pare down vehicles and meet mom's flight together.

The flight out of Mobile was delayed. Mom managed a call out to say that Mobile airport was just a nest of snakes - her flight was delayed and she was going to miss her connection.

She'd lost it, right there at the counter - and the person at the counter had an attack of humanity and told her they would get her on a plane out, don't you worry.

So she's delayed, but she's still on the way. We meet up, and do the hug thing. I buy a latte out of habit. They'd driven all the way from New York, and had left the kids with her in-laws in Milwaukee.

Before they'd left, their neighbor had come over to give them $250.00 worth of gas cards and a care package full of food and games for the two boys. People can really be something.

Yesterday, I'd come home to find a nondescript envelope out of Milwaukee. No letter, just $100.00 gas card from my friend G. Stand-up guy, all the way.

We chat a bit about navigation woes and the dreadful state of airlines in general, then we're off to the airport.

Fittingly, it's a crappy and grey day.
