Senate Votes To Expand Warrantless SurveillanceThis, after all the talk, all the puffery.. they knuckle under.
The Senate bowed to White House pressure last night and passed a Republican plan for overhauling the federal government's terrorist surveillance laws, approving changes that would temporarily give U.S. spy agencies expanded power to eavesdrop on foreign suspects without a court order.
Especially after the revelation that a previously undisclosed reason the administration was asking for these powers was the the courts had declared their little plan illegal.
My rep, my senators did their job, but what the hell, people? Who are these democrats who held press conferences and worked the talk shows - telling us how the president was overreaching - and then sold civil liberties down the river in the middle of the night on a weekend?
How dare they?
