Don't say it ain't so

(H/t to digby and Glenn Greenwald)

Nukes & Spooks has the best rejoinder to McClellan and the lapdog media anyone-but-me festival of blame:
we find it a wee bit preposterous -- and we are being diplomatic here -- that a man who slavishly - no, robotically! -- defended President Bush's policies in Iraq and elsewhere is trying to "set the record straight" (and sell a few books) five years and more after the invasion, with U.S. troops still bravely fighting and dying to stabilize that country.

[snip]

The news media have been, if anything, even more craven than the administration has been in defending its failure to investigate Bush's case for war in Iraq before the war.
The McClatchy correspondents who wrote this are among the pitifully few journalists who have a leg under them when they say such things. Read it.

Why yes Mr. McClellan is a slimball, but let's not turn him into Lynndie England. This is all about an incredibly bereft, unethical administration which the Speaker herself calls criminal, yet of course we can't risk the Democratic majority on something so foolish as protecting the constitution, and an even more unethical fourth estate which by and large refuses to actually do any journalism with regards to itself, its parent corporations or the government.

Let us not excuse the American public, which also by and large(bonus sailing term used twice) refuses to wake up and smell anything that resembles the truth. If they do, they refuse to do anything with it.
