Lest anyone get carried away on the post convention hype, pollster.com has an excellent electoral projection map that shows where this election is currently at:
This would be why fivethirtyeight.com is showing Ohio as make or break for McCain. McCain's trailing in safe electoral votes. Of the 99 in serious contention, McCain will need to get 90 of them in order to become president.
If you accept pollster's projections, that's a hell of a hurdle.
Granted, there's a lot of qualifiers in there. Polls are never the same as actual turnout. But it would explain why McCain has to fight like a savage for Ohio and Florida. Either one could bury him.
The Dems cannot let their foot off the gas - but anyone telling you that the Dems have an uphill struggle hasn't been looking at the numbers.
