Chrysler Financial Execs choose their well being over their company

Ryan Chittum's beating on the WSJ for watering down their coverage of an explosive topic:

Chrysler Financial executives are leery of accepting government aid, because it might affect their salary.

They are choosing more expensive public private sector financing.

While I'm sure the negotiations are private - the end results will be public and long lasting.

I'd love to see some on the record defenses of this decision.

Late edit: e's right, I meant private sector financing.
