Seriously.
This is America, he's free to say it- but listeners should be free to vent their righteous fury at his employers until they fire his dumb ass.
Of course, if things follow recent history, Savage will offer some kind of "expression of regret" - something intended to placate the news cycle until America moves on to the next unbelievably ignorant and offensive thing he says.
Here's hoping his employers are human - and show Savage the door.
Late edit: When called out. Mr. Savage admits to using hyperbole, but insists "My main point remains true".
Nice.
Later edit: Incredibly, its even worse than that: WCBS TV quotes Savage defending his remarks with this winner (emphasis mine):
What if people who wore glasses were put on the blindness spectrum, or people with moles on their face were put on the cancer spectrum? The problem here is that there is no definitive diagnosis for autism and that is why so many children are being thrown into this category, and they're being falsely diagnosed and stigmatizedOh.
I see.
Sure Michael, the same person who said:
I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don't have a father around to tell them, 'Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot.-is trying to protect children from being stigmatized.
How could people fail to understand that?
