Skirmish = gunfire. No gunfire, no skirmish.

What the hell is with the NYT?

U.S. Military Reports Skirmish With Iran
By Mike Nizza

Iran and the United States have been playing chicken for some time now, but reports this morning say that the game turned unusually direct on Sunday.

Iranian Revolutionary Guard gunboats harassed three U.S. Navy warships in the Strait of Hormuz Sunday, in what the U.S. military considers a “significant provocative act.”

Military officials told NBC News that two U.S. Navy destroyers and one frigate were heading into the Persian Gulf through the international waters of the Strait of Hormuz when five armed “fast boats” of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard approached a high speed, darting in and out of the formation.
Okay, I get that there's this zeitgeist where we should begin bombing Iran to stop them from global domination, but how hard is it for the Times to not get caught up in the hype?

Remember how Iran had a nuclear (sorry, NOO-cular) weapons program - then we found out it had been halted three years ago?

You figure the Times could at least learn million times bitten/ million-and-one shy.

Have to feel for the good journalists there. They must be noticing the turn to propaganda rag. Hiring Bill Kristol is sort of inserting the already dead canary.

p.s. word verification is getting way out of hand. kadsjfkjfakdsjfjkjfafdkjlkfajfdjafkjdsafjdsfjsasf
